Stream of consciousness and other personal thoughts garnered throughout the week and which will be added to as the week rolls on. These thoughts are unrefined, unquantified, unverified, and raw. Any of these may be either be edited, deleted or otherwise spawn out into its own separate post particularly if new information comes to light…
- Latest Roy Morgan polling suggests that NZ Labour party support has fallen 6.5 percentage points. Noticed not many if any of the mainstream media outlets here in NZ have picked this story up this time around. It’s also interesting to now observe that people on both sides of the political spectrum appear to be now united and aligned in expressing their disappointment towards the Labour led Government’s lack of progress on their election pledges both here and here (on the left) and then here (on the right).
- Interesting this is now considered business news by the NZ Herald.
- While Swazi NZ appear to have moved the manufacture of many of their clothing lines overseas. LastRite footwear, Earth Sea Sky, Cactus Outdoor, Kaiwaka, Ground Effect (Cycling apparel) appears to be still made in New Zealand.
- Light Rail is now being consulted on at lightrail.co.nz. To be honest, I’m not too keen because it feels like the project will undoubtedly go the same way as any other city project. Late delivery and cost blow outs.
Has no one thought about running a heavy rail spur line out from Puhinui westward parallel or near parallel to Puhinui Rd, across the estuary and then an elevated line some how into the both the Domestic and International terminal? Yeah, it will undoubtably cost a few billion given the way things are, but I think such a proposition may be less fraught with risk than trying to retro fit Light rail down existing roads.
