I manage part of a nationwide tour company and my drivers spend too much time looking for these stupid little signs and trying to work out if they are legal, and not enough time watching what for they are supposed to (bikes, people, other cars , hazards etc)
My idea is that some visible ‘code’ is placed on the road surface itself (where your eyes are already scanning as you are driving safely) perhaps cats eyes pairs every 30m, and a pair of red means it’s a 24/7 bus lanes, a pair of blue means its am, and pair of orange means evening bus lanes. or some other code). I know AT claim paint is too expensive.
Bus lanes are great, but I feel aggrieved when in order for my employees to drive legally in this city they are taking their eyes off the road and looking at lampost signs so much, that if it was a driving test they would fail for inattention!

I suspect Auckland Transport are myopic in that they think that all journeys are frequent and typical, so people can learn where lanes are; well many people don’t commute and are driving all over the city, the country or the world. They have to rely on signage.

It’s revenue is 5million per year.
I was the one whom was forces to design Kroad layout unnecessary in its was for bus transition and offset lanes. No other road in the world has this
