BAN 1366×768 Screens 😛

In the year 2022, Why on earth do New mid-range and better Laptops fitted with a 15.6 inch 1366×768 resolution screen still even exist?

Something tongue in cheek… In the guise of certain people in New Zealand advocating banning 1080 poison by way of “BAN 1080” signage and scrawls particularly in parts of rural New Zealand, I propose a new movement for the more tech inclined among us: BAN 1080  768, Demand 1080 (minimum)… 😛

“768” being the vertical resolution on laptops screens I’m railing against (which is not tongue in cheek). The majority, if not all laptops with a screen size of 14 inches or larger should have at least a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080. No laptop with a screen 14 inches or larger on a medium spec (AMD Ryzen 5, Intel i5) or better laptop should ever be sold new with a mere 1366 x 768 resolution screen in the year 2022.

This came about while trying to figure out what I should do with some of my accumulated loyalty points where the electronics retailer, Noel Leeming are a part of scheme. Looked at their specials and saw this HP i7 Laptop

Saw it had an Intel i7 processor and 16GB ram, that looked fairly modest/acceptable. Then scrolled down to check the rest of the features where it mentions an HD screen. No where does it mention what resolution it has however…

…Surely, with a laptop that has an Intel i7 processor and 16GB of RAM in the year 2022, the screen resolution has got to be be at least 1920 x 1080, right? So took a note of the model number, 15s-du3582TU, and then Googled it (Or Duck Duck Go) just to check and got to this page on HP’s official site…

…why, why, why are manufacturers on earth still shipping 15.6” inch laptop screens, particularly on laptops with an Intel i7 processor, in the year 2022 with only a 1366 x 768 resolution for goodness sake?!  The vertical resolution of 768 is an absolute abortion of a resolution with many dialog boxes in my own wretched experience not able to fit on a 768 vertical resolution screen. The resolution from my attempts to use a laptop of that screen resolution is only good for something like updating your Faceborg status or grandparents writing emails to their grand children and may be at a stretch, students writing up university assignments, but baring a limited number of use cases, I struggle to otherwise understand why you would need an i7 processor with 16GB of RAM to do aforementioned tasks with on a 1366 x 768 screen

You don’t have to go far to come across posts and articles (with some of the discussion dating back close to a decade!) to see how widely panned the 1366 x 768 screens on laptops are…

Please, computer buyers of the world, make sure the next laptop or notebook you buy, should it have a screen size of 14 inches or greater, be at least 1920 x 1080 and help rid the world of 1366 x 768 laptops and notebooks. There concludes my first world problem rant for the week. 😂

Some other banners that I was playing around with…

Possible Tongue in Cheek bumper sticker. If you do happen to flog this idea, please credit me. All care and no responsibility here… put this on your vehicle at your own risk 😛.
